I wouldn’t get the black coffee and cherry pie quite yet!! According to Deadline.com, The Fox Network is developing a limited-run series, WAYWARD PINES, that is being compared to the best TV show of all time, TWIN PEAKS.
Fox is developing “Wayward Pines,” a “Twin Peaks”-like, ten-to-twelve episode series from M. Night Shyamalan, the network annonced Tuesday.
[…]
Fox is calling [the] series a “long-form event series,” meaning they are longer than traditional miniseries but [isn’t] planned as an ongoing series. Fox will announce its first event series pilot pickups later this year, with plans to debut it in 2014.
And here’s a description of WAYWARD PINES:
Based on the best-selling novel Pines by Blake Crouch, Wayward Pines is an intense, mind-bending thriller evocative of the classic cult hit Twin Peaks. Secret Service agent Ethan Burke arrives in the bucolic town of Wayward Pines, ID, on a mission to find two missing federal agents. But instead of answers, Ethan’s investigation only turns up more questions. What’s wrong with Wayward Pines? Each step closer to the truth takes Ethan further from the life he knew, from the husband and father he was, until he must face the terrifying reality that he may never get out of Wayward Pines alive. Wayward Pines was written on spec by Hodge (The Playboy Club) and executive produced by Shyamalan, Hodge, Donald De Line (Green Lantern) and Ashwin Rajan (After Earth). Shamyalan and Hodge are repped by WME.
If you’re like me, having Shyamalan’s name attached to this project is rather scary. Let’s face it, Shyamalan has made some real fucking stink bombs!! But his role is only as a producer so that makes me feel better. I think Shyamalan is a solid director, but he can’t write a compelling story to save his life. Don’t make me do this … THE VILLAGE? THE HAPPENING? LADY IN THE WATER? THE LAST AIRBENDER? Keep him outta the writer’s chair and we’ll be okay.
Stay Bloody!!!
